Step 1 - Design the Local Area Network
- Use the Appleworks draw blueprint template below to accomplish the
following:
- Copy and Paste items from the blueprint legend to create a diagram of
your campus.
- Label your campus MDF, IDFs, drops, labs, WAPs, etc.
- Label your campus wiring scheme .
- Remember these points in your design:
- All computers you want on the network have to connect to the network.
- No copper wire or wireless network connections can exceed 100 meters
(~300 ft).
- Fiber wire can be used, but if you choose fiber, you must by fiber
switches.

Step 2 -
Establish a 3-Year Budget Plan
- Use Excel to create a budget based upon the following capital
increments:
| Year 1 - $100.00/Student |
Year 2 - $35.00/Student |
Year 3 -
$30.00/Student |
- Your budget total is your number of students multiplied by the amount
per student for the year.
- For example: In year 1 with 400 students, your budget would be (400 x
$100.00) or $40,000.
- You may carry balances over from year to year, but all funds should be
expended by the end of year three.
- Use Excel tutorials below to assist you in creating a 3-year budget that
includes:
Week 09 - Designing a Powerpoint Presentation
Continue to work in your groups. Your job is to create a presentation that explains your technology
design plan and budgets. Using PowerPoint, create a presentation that includes the following elements:
- A title page with a title, your group's name and the date.
- Slides which explain the strategy and main points of your plan.
- Slides which outline your budget expenditures.This can be done through
bullet points, graphics, charts, or however you feel will communicate your
message.
- A graphic of your campus diagram.
- For assistance with Powerpoint, please check the Powerpoint in the Classroom Site. If you do not find what you need there,
please fell free to ask me for assistance.
Week 10 - Using Kidpix - Creating a Class Slideshow
- Go to Start/All Programs/Broderbund Software/KidPix Studio Deluxe and start KidPix.
- Click on the “KidPix” button - This will take you to the "Painting" Program
- Use
the Paint program to draw an decorate a self-portrait.- at the bottom of
the picture, use the “Letter Stamp” tool
and stamp my name is ----.
- Save your picture
- Go to the “File Menu” and select “Save a Picture”
- Save as - lastname_slide_01
- Save it into the "My_Pix" Folder
- Go to the "File" menu and select "New"
- Use the "Stamps Tool" to create a slide about things you like to do.At
the bottom of the page, use the typewriter tool to type "I like to ...
- Save Your Picture
- Go to the “File Menu” and select “Save a Picture”
- Save as - lastname_slide_02
- Save it into the "My_Pix" Folder
- Go to the "File" menu and select "New"
- Use other tools from the toolbar to create a slide which shows how you feel. At the bottom of the slide stamp or
type "Today I feel ..."
- When you have completed all three slides, quit KidPix.
- Move your pictures to the Slideshow Folder
- Double-click the "My Computer" Icon
- Double-click the "C:" drive icon
- Double-click the "KPSDLUX"
- Double-click the "My_Pix" folder"
- Drag your 3 pictures to the desktop
- Move your pictures to the "Slideshow" Folder on the Network
- Login to the Network (Cowanjostudent)
- Double-click your class folder
- Double-click the "AAA_Slideshow" Folder
- Drag your 3 pictures inside the "AAA_Slideshow" Folder
- Go to the presentation station to place your pictures into the slideshow.
