The class will be divided into groups of 3 in order to complete the project.  Each member of the group will have a specific role to fill in the Personal Fitness Team.  When each person has fulfilled his or her individual assignments, the group will come back together in order to finalize the product they wish to present.

The Personal Trainer...
The job of the personal trainer is to formulate the best workout program possible for the client based on their goals. The program that you put together should include proven weight training and cardio-vascular principles to help your client get started with a personal fitness program.  The personal trainer must demonstrate knowledge of the lifting techniques needed and suggestions on how and where to complete the cardio-vascular components.
The Dietitian...
The job of the dietitian is to formulate a diet for the client based on their fitness goals.  The dietitian needs to plan 1 weeks worth of meals with background knowledge of the diet so they can explain why they have chosen this type of diet for the client.  The dietitian must also break down 1 day of caloric intake.  We need to know what type of food is being eaten and in what quantities.  The dietitian needs to become the expert on food.
The Recreation Director...
The recreation director is in charge of lifelong fitness.  This person needs to be in tune with the goals of the client and what interests the client outside of the gym.  The recreation director needs to find 2 activities that the client will enjoy being involved in that will also keep them active when not working out.  Some examples might be golf, hiking, or snow skiing.  The recreation director must be able to explain why they feel these activities will be good for the client and they need to know where the client can get more information including lessons, equipment, etc.

Once you have your groups, discuss what you know about general fitness.  Once you have discussed the aspects of personal fitness and have clarified what you know, you need to pick a client to work with and decide which role each member of your group will fill on the Personal Fitness Team.  When your roles and client have been chosen each person needs to research their area.  Use the sources on the resources page to help you find information about fitness or find your own.

Your group will present a sales pitch to the client (class) about the fitness program you have put together, why it is beneficial to the client, and how all of the parts fit together.  This presentation will involve using PowerPoint to present your plan and findings in an easy to understand manner.  The presentation should be 15 minutes long.  Each member of your group will also present their individual findings as part of the presentation.  The personal trainer will show the client, and explain the benefits of, 2 lifts they are prescribing for the client and describe the cardio-vascular training they are recommending.  The dietitian will prepare an example meal for the client to eat with a caloric breakdown.  The recreation director will demonstrate one of the activities they have chosen for lifelong fitness. They must have  information available for the client to look at with more specific information about that activity i.e. equipment, locations, cost, etc.
