Introduction
This electronic portfolio is a collection my professional endeavors in pursuit of the Masters of Education, Educational Technology at CSU, Sacramento. The selected projects and artifacts included herein were either developed during the course of the first iteration of the Internet Masters in Educational Technology (iMET1) program, or were developed prior to, but significantly modified as a result of acquiring new strategies and insight from my professors Hannah, McVicker, Menchaca, and colleagues of iMET1. The portfolio contains three sections: Process, Product, and Showcase.
Process
The Process Section is a collection of personal and professional artifacts, which reflect achievements prior to and during the masters program. Included are letters of commendation, professional résumé, chronology of personal and professional growth with educational technology, and selected products using the tools and strategies acquired in the program.
Product
he Product Section consists of four significant artifacts, which demonstrate learned concepts and strategies. The first artifact First Impressions is a unit of practice incorporating the strategies of concept attainment with an instructional goal of understanding the genre of Impressionist art. The second artifact Shakespeare's Daze is a staff development unit of practice demonstrating the characteristics of an interdisciplinary unit encompassing the curricula of math, language arts, world history, and technology. The third artifact A License to Drive is a web-based interdisciplinary unit of practice, which follows the Bernie Dodge model of WebQuest. The fourth artifact Sitting for Freedom evaluates Internet curriculum packages focusing on the Civil Rights Movement over two decades (1950-1969).
Showcase
The showcase section contains only one artifact: an action research project. The action research project qualitatively investigates elements of an interdisciplinary unit of practice, which improve student motivation, time-on-task, and learning-by-doing in a technology rich environment. The project was conduction during the Spring of 2001.
