Third Task

You will research a specific dragon from one of the ancient civilizations. You will need to find important facts about your dragon. Such as when (and why if possible) this dragon was created/believed in by its culture, what it looked like, did it have special powers or talents, was it good, bad or something else, did it contribute to the culture, did the culture make sacrifices, tribute, or worship the dragon. After you have completed this task you will have a class debate with your classmates about the differences and common aspects of the different cultural dragons.

Example - One team may state that dragons first developed in ancient civilization X and their research shows they were real. The other team may state that dragons developed in another ancient civilization but are really myths.

They can debate whether dragons were real or just myths.
They can debate which ancient civilization was first to produce dragons.
They may debate whether all dragons are the same or not.

The means of assessment for this task will be an instructor rubric, your notes, and peer review

Debate:

Find another student in your class that has researched the same dragon as you. Work with your partner developing your information to support your argument.
You will need cue cards and/or notes about the dragon you researched and the relationship with its culture.
Be prepared to debate the comparisons and contrasts of your dragon with another team.
You will need enough material and facts to support a 5 to 10 minute debate.
