Inform and Consent
Before starting
this unit of instruction, consult with your principal
and discuss the content of the curriculum. Give him/her
a copy of the curriculum and all associated forms.
Be sure to inform parents that you are planning this unit
of study. Send home a parent permission form and keep
the signed document on file.
Emphasize that:
- This unit is based
on human figure drawing and sculpture.
- A parent permission
form will be sent home before the unit starts.
- The art exhibition
portion is optional.
- Alternative curriculum
exists for students whose parents wish it.
- Other schools have
participated in this event in the past.
- Religion is not
a topic in this unit, only cultural observances.
Solicit the participation
of other teachers in your school, such as the foreign
language teachers, special education and other art classes.
