 251 Education for a Democratic, Pluralistic Society
This is an advanced study of the economic, social, historical, philosophical issues related to the schools, students, and the society. In the course, we address the implications of theories and research concerning the history of education and schools, the nature of learning, values, democratic education, pluralism, equal opportunity, and barriers to the above. The course will examine the current status of California public schools, and the relationship between these schools and the students, especially with regards to technology.
Prerequisite: Graduate Standing (Courses is listed). 3 units.
Students will focus on integrating curriculum, equity, and/or staff development strands into an overall educational technology implementation strategy. Complex problem-solving techniques, research, distributed learning, methodology, and evaluation will be emphasized
