Welcome, Inquiring Reader

Welcome, and thank you for visiting my site. I hope there is something of value here for you, whether you are looking for resources for students, or resources for teacher professional development and collaboration. This site represents selective portions of my work as a Master of Arts Candidate, Internet Masters of Educational Technology; in which I participated as part of (iMET Cohort 11) at California State University, Sacramento, in 2008 and 2009. The site includes three major sections, as detailed here below!

Introduction

Process
This section gives some background about myself as a teacher, and my pedagogical framework, as well as a bit of personal background. It includes reflections on the transformative nature of the combined catalysts of best practices theory and strategy study, technology integration, and most importantly, educational collaboration in a variety of teaming formats. This Masters Cohort has informed my practice, given me new tools, and enhanced my perspective on the big issues in education.

Product
This section shows the practical outcomes of our work. Although I did a number of projects independently, three of the projects here are collaborative efforts, and one is a "solo." This seemed appropos, as the emphasis in our program, and in successful educational paradigms, is a collaborative one. Two of the products are direct services/lesson units for students; two of the products are for teachers professional development. This too is reflective of the structure of our program: the balance teacher collaboration for depth and improvement in practice, evidenced by meaningful products with direct student learning outcome. Since I am a middle school teacher, my student oriented products reflect application at that level.

Showcase
The Showcase has two elements. The Action Research Project investigates a technology implementation at my site. This implementation involved the usage of computer based interactive tutoring, in a blended environment with regular instruction in an alternative day program in an inner city middle school. The Action Research Project chronicles the impact of that. The other element, an associated Review of Literature on the topic, gives background and research regarding online human tutoring associated with standards based instructional practices.
