Preparation (Prior to Wednesday Night)

A. If you have not already done so, set up your Skype Account:

      - Download Skype

      - Acquire a headset with headphones and Microphone

      - Go over the Tips Sheet

      - Make sure you:

             1. Have an account.

             2. Have made a test call.

             3. Know your Skype account name.

             4. Know how to make a call.

             5. Know how to answer a call.

             6. Know how to add a caller to a conversation.

        Note:  This is all pretty straight forward. If you need help, come to support Saturday or contact John C.

B) Select and review at least 2 of the following action research project exemplars:


Kristen (iMet 9) Video Supplementation in the Arts Classroom

Chanh and Diana (iMet 9) Online Technology Just-In-Time-Training

Catherine(iMet 9) Evaluating the Integration of Flash Animation and Chinese Character Learning

Erica (iMet 7) The Effects of a Classroom Website

Diana (iMet 7) Evaluating the Use of an Online Forum for Writing Peer Critiques in an Undergraduate Graphic Design Course

Joyce (iMet 6) Connecting ChemCom to the Web: The Effect of Web-based Instruction in High School Chemistry.

C) Be prepared to discuss the following:

       1. What was the topic?
       2. What was the research methodology?
       3. What type of data was collected?
       4. What were the results?
       5. Did the data analysis make sense to you?
       6. Did the findings seem trustworthy? Why or Why not?
       7. How long was the timeline for the study?

7:00 Gather and Greet - Gather in John's Office (JohnCo)
7:10 Check In
7:20 1. Gather in your Recorder's TI office.
2. Facilitator calls everyone on Skype.
3. Facilitators, using Skype (and TI to help), have each group member discuss one of the studies they reviewed and provide their answers to the questions from Letter "C" above.
Take a break as needed.
4. As a group come up with your group's responses to the following questions:
  • What did you learn from looking at these projects?

  • What questions do you have about what you saw in the projects?

  • How did the review of exemplars impact your thinking about your own research ideas?

8:40 Each group's Reporter posts their group's comments and questions to the "12 List".
9:00 Session Ends - No Check Out
John C. will be available on Skype and TI and will respond to each group's submission to the ""12 List"".
