Hollywood Escapism
By 1933, one out of every four workers was unemployed. The Great Depression threw Americans upon hard times. Many sought an escape from reality in the gamour of Hollywood. The new president was determined to lift the spirits of the nation with an inaugural speech telling Americans that the only thing they had to fear was fear itself.
