A Show of Success
This was the decade of "dressing for success." Power suits for women clothed the unpresidented numbers of women entering the corporate arena. Sandra Day O’Connor became the first woman nominated for the Supreme Court. AIDS was first identified in the U.S. in 1981. And the phrase Material Girl stood for an entertainer as well as the general attitude of American consumers. Does this decade remind you of the materialism of the twenties? Why or why not?
