My Code of Conduct
(loosely based on the armed forces code of conduct):
-
I
am a professional educator. I serve my students, their
parents, my teaching
teammates, and my school community. I am prepared to give my
mind, heart, and soul to ensure that my students are happy
and successful. I will never give in to pressure to abandon
best practices for short-term test score gains. I will
keep faith with my colleagues and nourish their minds and
spirits as they have nourished mine. I will never forget
that I teach children, not subjects . I will trust in the
importance of critical thinking, collaboration, and
communication to guide my professional practice.

My Manifesto about
technology, teaching, and learning:
-
-
One:
Teach through computers, not about them
Two:
Focus on training and educating teachers
Three:
Make computers available in places where the core curriculum is happening (i.e. classrooms)
Four:
Learning with basic software tools is more important than using subject specific tutorials or pre-packaged learning games
Five:
Human interactivity is more important than software interactivity
Six:
Technology must allow students and teachers to do new things, not just do old things in a new way
Seven:
Provide robust tech support
Eight:
Educational technology must improve student achievement and motivation
Nine:
Educational technology must promote project-based learning and collaboration
Ten:
Technology must help students acquire the basic skills of the information age
