Poster Major elements are missing or inaccurate. Layout is haphazard and unappealing. Difficult to read.  All of the focus areas are represented but information is not complete. Any required element is not included. Organization of poster is not thoughtful and looks rough. (eg. text boxes are clipped or run over images)  Each of the five focus areas is represented with a summary paragraph and a picture to illustrate the section. A time line of major events for the civilization is presented. Organization and layout is thoughtfully arranged. Source for all images is provided.  Contains all descriptors of a '3' as well as: Shows common themes among all 4 civilizations. Pictures add to the artistic design of the poster. The time line highlights all events of major significance in the civilization and is illustrated with appropriate images.  1

Presentation Presentation is weakly organized. Any one of the 5 defining characteristics are not presented. Major factual errors are presented. Any disagreement among the group members on matters of fact.  Critical information is provided but the organization is unclear. Any one descriptor of a "3" is missing. A major achievement is not presented.  Each member of the group participated in the presentation. Each of the five defining characteristics of a civilization are explained on their own slide (at least one). Oral presentation is organized and the slide show serves to support a more detailed discussion of the civilization. Additional illustrative details are provided by each presenter.  All descriptors of a '3' plus: Multimedia elements are incorporated into the slide show (movies or sound clips). All presenters have memorized their presentation and are able to answer questions about their 'specialty' without problems. Presentation provides connections to each of the three other ancient civilizations being studies.  1

Web Site Little or no attempt at organization into a web site (just a collection of pages). No images are included. Ugly!  Any descriptor of a '3' is missing. Some links are 'dead.' Pages within a site don't have a common appearance. Factual inacuracies.  A 'splash page' and seperate pages for each of the five defining characteristics of a civilization are present. A resources page is provided with additional links to let others further explore the civilization. The entire web site has a common appearance and is easy to navigate. Web Site includes at least one graphic on every page.
