Lesson Goals
To help the students obtain an understanding of the importance of African American culture and the effect that culture has had on American society.
Objectives
The students will create a multimedia presentation on their artist.
The students will create a 750 – 1000 word biography on their artist.
The students can create a poster project showing the evolution of modern music for extra credit.
Students will take a live performance test to show their understanding of musical styles.

Poster Project
Based on the notes taken in class, create a poster showing the progression of Black Gospel and Folk Music into today’s modern music, with a focus on the artist.

Auditory recognition test of 5 different forms of music.
Time Frame
