You have just been hired by a Web Design
firm to develop a Web site for your high school.
You need to research different types and styles of instructional web
sites. Meet with the faculty and
staff to
review your finding. You will need
to develop questions to determine what the faculty and staffs main objectives are with
their web site.
Students working in groups of 3 or 4 will
investigate and report the properties of a good instructional web site, dependent on the
subject area assigned. Students will use the web evaluation guide to report
their comments and opinions about each site they visit. Each group will develop a web site template,
that reflects the good qualities discovered during their web evaluation, to
share with the teachers in that subject area. Each group will meet with
the faculty in their subject area to develop their web site. The faculty
in their subject area must approve the layout, format, color, and content of
their site. Each group will complete the interview form and secure the
signatures required on the signature page. Each group will create a web site for their assigned
teacher/department. The web site will be attached to the school web
site. The student groups and the faculty will establish a
procedure and schedule to update and maintain their web page. Students will be divided into groups of three for this project; these groups
will select or be assigned a department/club/sport representing their high
school. Each group must complete all pieces of the assignment as described
below. Each group needs to consist of the following members: Each member of your group will need to maintain a daily journal. The
journal will be used to record what was accomplished during each period and/or
at other times during the day or night. This assignment as with all
computer assignments will remain in the classroom at all time and be immediately
available for review by the teacher. Each member of the group should
concentrate on their particular role but since this is a group project the group
members can help each other. Another option available is to
collaborate with the other students in the class with the same role. The following assignments need to be completed by the appropriate group
member: The following resources and templates will assist you in your assignment. HIGH SCHOOL SITES HANDOUTS Your final project will grade will be based on the
following components: 1) Completion of all handouts. Throughout this activity you have learned
how evaluate web sites and researched types and styles of instructional web
sites. You have also interviewed faculty or staff members to gather
information with regards to what they desired on their specific web pages.
