questions in PDF format
Each group will select
a personality theorist and answer the following questions:
-
What theorist
did you select and why? (You might title this page "Introduction"
and save as a file named "index".)
-
How did this theorist
answer the questions "what is personality"? (You might title
this page "What is personality" and name the file "what".)
-
How did/does this
theorist measure and/or assess personality? I am looking for the type
of assessment techniques or inventories that might be used. For example,
Henry Murray used the Thematic Apperception Test (TAT) to assess personality.
Freud used free association and dream analysis. Some biological theorists
use bran scans. The method of measuring personality varies somewhat
across perspectives. (You might title this page "Assessing Personality"
and save as a file named "assess".)
-
What causes psychopathology
according to this theorist? Briefly, I am referring to disturbances
in human behavior which can encompass anything from depression to
schizophrenia. (This page could be called "Psychopathology"
and saved as a file named "psychopath".)
-
What is it about
the theorist's personality or life experience that caused him/her
to come up with the theory that he or she developed? I am looking
for a specific example of a life experience and how this could have
resulted in some specific aspect of the theory. For example, some
have suggested that the fact Freud adored his young beautiful mother
might have resulted in his development of the Oedipus Complex. (I
will let you decide what to name this page; just remember files are
saved with no capital letters.)
