  • Oral class presentation on the History of the Holocaust.
  • Minimum of 15 to 20 minutes long.
  • PowerPoint presentation, 15 to 20 slides.
  • Projector as a visual aide in your presentation.

How to use PowerPoint
  • Double-click PowerPoint icon.
  • Choose blank presentation, click ok.
  • Choose a layout design.
  • Click in text boxes to add text.
  • To add more slides, click insert new slide.
  • Repeat until you have enough slides, you may choose different layouts.

How to apply Design Template
  • On menu bar, click Format, click apply design template. (background design)
  • Make sure the view is on preview (top right), so that you can see design.
  • Click on designs (left side) to view designs, choose the style you desire.
  • Click apply.

How to insert clip art
  • Click insert, new slide, choose the layout with text and a picture.
  • To insert a picture, click insert picture, choose clip art.
  • Click on a category, such as animals, click on a picture, then click the arrow to insert the picture.

Clip art resizing
  • Click on the picture you have inserted.
  • Position mouse on a diagonal corner of the picture. You will see a double-sided arrow.
  • Click and drag the arrow outward to increase the size of picture, or inward toward center to decrease size.

Slide Views
  • To view all your slides:
    Click on view, click on the slide sorter on the menu bar.
  • Or choose the slide sorter view icon at the bottom left of the screen. This will show all of your slides on one screen.
  • To view one slide at a time, click view on menu bar, and normal. Or click slide view on tool bar at the bottom.

How to add a video clip
  • Go to the Insert Menu and choose Movie from file.
  • Choose from gallery.
  • The movie clip will appear on your slide .
  • To appear on cue
  • Place the video on the slide, as detailed above.
  • Select the video and go to the slide show menu and animation settings.
  • Choose to build, and then pick an effect - fly in, dissolve in, etc.

Slide Transitions
  • On the menu bar, click slide-show, then slide transition.
  • Click drop down arrow to choose desired transition effect, and choose speed. (slow, medium or fast)
  • You may choose to have slide transition at the mouse  click or after a period of time.
  • You many also choose a sound effect.
  • You may choose to have the same transition apply to all slides, or just one slide.

How to Insert a Sound

  • To play as part of an animation:
  • Select the object that is being animated.
  • Right click on it and choose Animation Settings, or go to slide show (on the menu) and select  custom animation .
  • Choose effects, select animation.
  • Select an animation and a sound from the list, or choose Other Sound to browse.

  • To place as a button on your slide:
  • Go to the Insert Menu and choose Sound.
  • Select From File, and browse to find a Sound file.
  • It will appear as a speaker on your slide.

Viewing Slide Show
  • Make sure you have the first slide selected, before beginning the slide show.
  • On Menu bar,  click slide show.
  • Or on toolbar, bottom left corner, choose slide show.
  • To end slide show, position mouse in left bottom corner to see hidden controls.
  • Save Slide show, file save as,  with a file name.
