Action Research Technology in the classroom is powerful in that it captivates, motivates, and challenges students to problem-solve, evaluate, and synthesize. My vision includes integrating technology based projects, such as WebQuests, which clearly define the process, task, standards, objectives, and evaluation. Providing students with resources, rubrics, and responsibilities place them at the center of their learning. In this model, students constantly question and create projects that utilize various forms of technology. For instance, digital cameras, projectors, computers, and CD players are a few technology tools that enhance learning. Where I currently teach, not all teachers have bought in to the concept of teaching with technology. Some teachers still rely heavily on lecture, which is unfortunate for students. My vision includes not only students collaborating to problem-solve and create projects, but teachers engaged in the same process learning from each other. The focus of my action research was on WebQuests and their impact on student motivation and achievement. The purpose of this study was to ascertain the level of student engagement and learning via completing a WebQuest and creating a PowerPoint presentation. The following review of relevant literature and action research projects for English and math illustrate the power of WebQuests in the classroom. Moreover, the student artifacts and feedback add further credence to the impact of WebQuests on student learning, motivation, and achievement.
