Special Needs

Resource students will be paired with students of varying skill levels. Students would be given a PowerPoint template to fill in with their rules and be directed to use specific websites that were at the students' levels. With this in mind, students will draw on each others' strengths.

Other modifications may include a handout to support the lesson. The teacher could also model the process for students.

Attachments:
1. PowerPoint Template for Students (Power Point Doc or Web Archive). These templates could help students that need a bit more scaffolding, or students that are not as adept at using the technology.

2. Sample Student Presentation This is simply a sample of what a finished presentation would look like.

Culturally and Linguistically Diverse Students

As stated above students will be paired with students of varying levels, so that students can draw on each others' strengths. Student groups would be heterogeneous to support all learners.

Handouts can be made with keywords in a secondary language. Or students can be shown how to use the translator program on yahoo.com. They would be encouraged to write rules in their first language and then translate their rules into English.

Gifted Students

Extension activities can be created to challenge gifted students. Activities could include research on where their grammar rule originated and a possible hypothesis as to why the rule was created, or students could combine some of the other groups' rules onto one PowerPoint or Web page. Students could also be allowed to demonstrate their grammar rules in a more artistic way such as a diagram of the the rules.
