HEALTH ON BOARD

HEALTHY SHIPS

Disease was a major concern for the captains of the exploration ships. If their crew became too ill to sail the ship, or died, they wouldn't be able to continue on the exploration. Captain Cook, a famous explorer, had rules for preventing diseases on his ships. They were health measures that he took after experiencing and treating illness on many different voyages.

After reading the linked article, you will have two tasks to finish. First, download and fill in the Health Issues summary with your group, then write a one paragraph summary telling why you think these health measures would be a good thing. Make sure to explain if your group’s voyage would adopt Captain Cook’s guidelines, add to Captain Cook’s guidelines or create your own guidelines for keeping your crew healthy.
