Your Exploration Tasks
On the Resources
page you will find four famous explorers with links to their information
sites. You are to read each of the sites and collect information. The
information will then be used in a Venn diagram and for planning your
own trip. You will be working in a group of 4. You may divide the tasks
and each research 2 explorers, but you must share your findings with
the group when assembling the database.
Background:
Your first task is to find out all you can about
the different explorers. You have a sheet, the Semantic
Resource Page link, (this page is in
Word format) that has a list of questions to investigate about each
explorer. Find the answers to each of the questions by clicking on the
link about that explorer and reading the information. You can also add
any facts or tidbits of information that you found interesting.
Comparing:
Your second task is to take the information
from your Semantic Resource Page and create a Venn diagram comparing
the explorers. Since you are working in a cooperative group of 4, you
may form partnerships, with each member becoming an expert on one of
the explorers. Share your information and create your Venn diagram using
the information you have collected.
Voyage Route:
Your third task is to map out the routes that
each of your explorers took on their explorations. Using 11 x 14 inch
paper and 4 different colored pencils, draw the route the continent
and route that each explorer took. Don’t forget that a good map
has certain information on it that makes it easy for the explorer to
read.
