The Internet Detective Agency, a WebQuest for grades 9-12 created in August 2004

Created by Debbie Clingingsmith (email: debbie@clingingsmith.org), a sometime teacher and current information technology director for a high school in San Francsico.

Reviewed by Eve Benson, a high school teacher, and Glee Mellor, a sixth grade teacher. Both Eve and Glee reside and teach in the Sacramento, CA, area.

The Internet Detective Agency WebQuest is designed for high school students. It also may be used for staff development or adults. The work is based on investigations into critical thinking skills as they are related to evaluating web sites. This WebQuest may serve as a foundation upon which additional web site evaluation skills may be taught. It is intended to provide students with some basic web skills and tools before teaching them about TAPAteach, which is a more formal method for evaluating web sites.

A rubric for use by teachers has been created. Details are available on the Evaluation web page.

Materials

For the detective team's electronic notebook, blogs need to be established for the teams ahead of time if used.
