Forum - First to Worst - An Examination of Public Education in California
Due: Midnight, Saturday, July 21, 2007
Introduction
In February of 2004, PBS broadcast first broadcast First to Worst. For this forum we will review aspects of this documentary, which describes the rise and fall of the public education system in California.
To prepare this week’s Forum post, complete each of the following:
Preparation (3 steps):
1) Listen to the “California Report” broadcast (from February of 2004) with “First to Worst” producer John Merrow.

2) Go to the extended interview page. Read the bio’s of each interviewee there and then chose and read 1 of the interviews.
3) Go to the timeline of California Education. Read about each of the 8 significant events in California education identified on the timeline.
When you have completed these steps, proceed to the forum to post.
