iMet: Internet Masters of Educational Technology

283 Staff Development and Presentation Applications

Paper
Due at Face-to-Face on May 4, 2007

Option A
Individually, attend CUE, BMED, a school or district-based in-service or conference, or, with prior approval by instructors, some other educationally-related presentation.
Evaluate the presentation using the TaskStream Presentation Rubric . In addition to rating with the rubric, provide a 1-2 page narrative write-up on the presentation especially focusing on (a) what was exceptional about the presentation, if anything; and (b) how the presentation might be improved, providing research citations if appropriate.
NOTE: Do NOT use a presentation by a professional presenter (e.g., Thornburg), by any iMET student past or present, or a hands-on workshop for this option.

OR

Option B
Individually and with respect to technology integration, find and evaluate two web-based resources that (a) focus on staff development, (b) showcase best practices and/or strategies, or, with prior approval by the instructors, (c) fulfill some other important but related service.
Evaluate using the Staff Development 'Lesson Plan' Rubric . In addition to rating with the rubric, provide a 1-2 page narrative write-up on each resource especially focusing on (a) what was exceptional about the resource, if anything; and (b) how the resource could be improved, providing research citations.
NOTE: Do NOT use a resource created by any iMET student past or present.

OR

Option C
Present at a conference yourself. If you engage in this option, please make the narrative write-up about 2 pages (no need to make it longer!), and include the following: ( a) How did you feel about your presentation overall? (b) How did you interact with attendees? (c) Did attendees ask questions, and, if so, did the questions seem to indicate an understanding of the material? (d) Upon reflection, what might you have done differently to improve your performance? No need to answer the questions word for word, they are merely a scaffold to help your thinking. Please include any additional comments or reflections related to this experience.
