283 Staff Development and Presentation Applications
Final Project
Due at Face-to-Face on May 4-5, 2007

In your EDTE 282 group, develop a research-based staff development plan

PART II: Presentation
In your EDTE 282 groups, present the following at the face-to-face on May 4-5, 2007;
| 1 |
A handout - each group will distribute a copy of the complete Staff Development plan, one copy to each member of the SDC(Staff Development Committee - see description below), and one copy to each instructor. |
| 2 |
A 5 minute presentation of the overall staff development plan to the SDC and |
| 3 |
A 25 minute illustrative example of your actual training so that the committee can experience your training first hand. |
The Staff Development Committee (SDC), upon experiencing the staff development shall;
make one of two recommendations, either;
(a) approval of the implementation of the staff development plan without modification or
(b) approval of the implementation staff development plan with suggested modification(s).
[The SDC should note it is very unusual for plans to be adopted without modification.]
All SDC committee members should:
(a) take notes during the presentation,
(b) meet in their 282 groups to evaluate the staff development plan according to the criteria provided
by the presenting group using both the Staff Development 'Lesson Plan' Rubric and the Presentation rubric, and
(c) as a group, write-up the evaluation and distribute said evaluation document to the presenting group
in a digital format
including an approval recommendation with or without modification(s).
Description of the Staff Development Committee (SDC):
The SDC shall be comprised of all students and faculty
who are not members of the current presenting group.
Historically, the SDC has been the governing body approving staff development implementation and in-service training
at Absorbine Junior Academy for Reluctant Learners. Recently, the SDC has been told repeatedly that teachers are tired
of poor training workshops that are "boring, long, and mostly if not completely useless." The SDC is tired of hearing such comments
and therefore has adopted a new method by which to approve potential staff development training.
Be it thereby resolved that henceforth;
all staff development trainers are required to present an overall staff development plan as well as deliver a 25 minute portion
of their training before receiving approval to actually conduct the training on site.
The SDC will recommend one of the following:
(a) rejection of the staff development proposal, or
(b) approval of the proposal with modifications, or
(c) approval of the proposal without modification.
[Note:
Since the iMET Department has historically delivered exceptional training, the SDC knows in advance that
option A (rejection) can be eliminated and that plans submitted by the iMET Department will automatically be approved either
with or without modifications. (The SDC knows this shows blatant favoritism to the iMET Department, but just doesn't care
what the other Departments think and states that those Departments should just be more like the iMET Department).]
[Additional Note: The SDC should also take into account that the staff development plan may require said staff development training
to occur over many sessions and therefore no penalty may be exacted on the presenting group for only having 30 minutes to introduce
the plan (i.e. analyze the entire written plan, as well as the presentation, when formulating the final evaluation).]
