"The iMet program is the perfect master's program for any educator that's even remotely interested in the use of technology. I knew virtually nothing about web design, blogs, or webquests before I became a member of the 8th cohort. I now have a wealth of tools to use to enhance my curriculum. I learned a great deal from four excellent instructors and it was really nice to already be at home when class was over. The personal connections I have made during the last 18 months are invaluable. For the rest of my career I will have a nice network of professionals who can help me if I ever have questions regarding technology or education. It was a unique and wonderful experience."
Tracy Brown, iMet 8
"iMet has had a tremendous impact on me as a person, as a technology user, and as a teacher. As a person I would say I have much more confidence in my skills and abilities as an "Ed-Tech Leader." I found tremendous validation just by being in the program. I had been looking into Ed Tech programs for a couple of years, and it was a "toss-up" between iMet and San Francisco State. I am so glad I choose iMet! As a technology user I have had a chance to try and become proficient in lots of new software programs. Dreamweaver would be the main one, but Captivate, Acrobat, Freehand, Photoshop Elements, and (of course) Inspiration are now all trusted tools in my tool box. I am grateful for the chance to learn and apply these tools in real life situations. iMet has especially helped me in the instructional work that I do.
One other outstanding aspect of iMet was the community. For the first time in my life I was with a group of people that understood what I do and shared many of my same passions. As I have said before, iMet is what school is supposed to be like!"
Vickie Duax, iMet 7
"My iMET experience joins my few peak experiences in my academic/professional life. The real-world problems, the collaborative enviroment, and the integration of tools served as a prototype of the change we are trying to effect in education. iMET was definitely a factor in my seeking and securing a position with a University research project where I currently work as a Project Specialist/Professional Development. My iMET 7 cohort continues to be a valuable network of colleagues and friends. Got a technical problem or question? Someone, or several someones, are there via "the list" with a suggestion. "Lucky" 7s Rock!"
Sue Womack, iMet 7
"I've always been into technology, and finding ways to bring it to my students. A colleague first described iMET to me, and once the program started, I was immediately jazzed by the interpersonal nature and community-building aspect of the program -- it is a form of distance-learning, designed with human heart, soul and mind at the core. I've appreciated the exposure to the wide range of tech tools and topics, plus the insight provided by a deeper, richer look at the research and theory supporting how we teach with computers."
Jason Bundy, iMet 6
"I was introduced to the iMet program through a colleague. I decided that this might be a good way for me to further my education, increase my value to my school, increase my ability to use technology in my teaching, and, generally, improve my teaching techniques. I had no idea! I now have other teachers come to me for assistance with technology, both as a teaching tool and as a teachers' tool. I have had opportunity to assist the tech expert at my site and I have shown my project as a poster session at the Sacramento Area Math Conference, at my site to my coworkers, and, in October, I will be presenting at the Association of Christian Schools International Conference held in Sacramento. More importantly, the teaching techniques I learned have helped me help my students, and the technology has helped capture their interest."
Kirk McMorris, iMet 6
"Being member of iMET Cohort 5 exceeded all of my expectations for what a master's program would be. During my time in the program, I learned from my fellow students, was challenged to consider places for emerging technologies in education, met and worked in teams with fantastic people. All of my instrucors were professional, knowledgeable and cared about creating a community of learners. Completing the iMET program, changed my teaching, and how I develpment professional development for teachers. Although at times it was difficult working full time and being in the iMET program, what I gained from completing the program has made the process more than worthwhile."
Kristina Roys, iMet 5
"The iMet program was very empowering for me. I learned more about teaching, practices and philosophical reasonings in the program than I did in the teaching credential program. After completing the program, I was able to further my educational carreer with the information that I had aquired. The learning network and the friends I have created in the cohort were second two none. I have recommended this program to many collegues and I would do it again if I could."
Brian Briggs, iMet 4
"iMet challenged my current understanding on how students were educated using technology as a medium. I learned a valuable lesson about how a computer is not just a learning tool but a utility for problem solving."
Don Isbell, iMet 4
"iMet was a great program for me. I did end up getting a new job shortly after completing the program. I was a K-6 teacher, having taught Kindergarten, first, fourth, fifth, and sixth grades. I am now finishing my third year as K-6 Instructional Technology Coach for Lodi Unified School District."
